Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

In the age of digital media, every class needs to participate! As a Media Specialist in a technical high school, I collaborate with faculty school-wide. The emphasis of our school is to provide not only the academic skills for post-secondary education, but technical career preparation as well. Thus, I try to assist our faculty to embed a digital and/or technical focus in their classes.

Students are motivated by technology and use it every chance they get! Encouraging faculty to integrate technology can be problematic because of time constraints, learning curves, and/or lack of equipment. All three reasons lead to a looming "brick wall"!

With a couple of audio and video digital recorders that are USB-connected for ease into computers, faculty will see that "brick wall" crumble! Advanced Communications classes wanting to create Public Service Announcements and commercials would be able to work in small groups to record, film, and upload in a relatively short time frame. Thus, the focus can remain on the storyboarding, sequencing, quality content-driven project, rather than the technology per say.

Contributors to this project will impact an entire school, as our Advanced Communications classes are required. With your assistance, our students will be prepared to seamlessly engage with compelling digital content as they embark in our technological and global society.
