My Students

My students are on the cusp of something great in life. They are learning the power of saving time and our planet. My students are learning the power of going paperless to help save our school money, resources and time.

We have a very diverse group of students that come from all walks of life.

Students at Parkview High School are extremely passionate about those aspects of life that they can control. Parkview was recently labeled as having the highest free/reduced lunch percentage among all high schools in our area. This allows us to be creative with our resources and learn about each individual student to reach him or her. The students at our school are among the nicest individuals I have ever had to great pleasure of meeting. They are thirsty for knowledge, but they need methods to reach them. These students need methods to reach us.

My Project

As our society becomes more ecologically-minded, this mindset must reach our students. Competitive academic debate teaches students to be resourceful and to think critically. Debate teaches students how to support and refute an idea with proper logic. These skills are necessary to thrive in today's workforce. In addition to these skills, students need to learn to use electronic devices to help convey their messages and to locate items quickly. The use of Chromebooks in our classroom will allow our speech and debate team to consume less paper products and printer toner - both of which contribute to losses in our budget and losses to our environment. Chromebooks will also be used store gigabytes of data and evidence and to create speeches quickly using word processor.

These Chromebooks will become a necessary item on our speech and debate team.

Chromebooks will teach students how to properly use word processors for speech and evidence construction. Students learning these skills are critical to be successful in college and in the workforce. Chromebooks will make my students better prepared to enter college and the workforce.
