As a teacher, I see the future in my classroom everyday. As an earth science teacher, I know the importance of teaching my students about our precious earth. Many of my students have special needs, or are learning English as a second language.

Many of my student have difficulty expressing themselves with pen and paper. We borrowed a camcorder to make a video project and the students really got into it. The special needs kids seemed to loose their inhibitions and it brought science to a new level of understanding for them. It was in their words "way cool."

If we could get a Sony camcorder like the one we borrowed, my kids would be able to express themselves in ways that they could not without this technology. This will put a real science tool into the hands of kids who could really use a boost in their academic development.

This video project aims to focus on inquiry-based activities to teach basic concepts in earth science and environmental science using a Sony camcorder as the topic of interest. In order to engage my students, we need to use hands-on activities, a camcorder would be the perfect tool.
