Exploring the Invisible Universe: Using Slides

My 7th Grade students need 8 sets (4 each of 2 collections) of prepared microscope slides.

My 7th Grade students attend a charter school hit by Hurricane Katrina. This is a high-need group of kids who are scoring two years behind grade level in all subjects.

These students are currently studying the cellular structure of living things and are showing great interest in the subject -- but have never actually seen or explored the microscopic world because of lack of equipment and opportunity to do so. Actually seeing cells from living things through microscopes and prepared slides would be a "mind-expanding" experience for them.

I need prepared slides of plant and animal tissues to use with microscopes set up as science centers in the classroom. Hopefully, this will lead to them preparing their own slides with collected specimens from our environment.

Without your help, my 7th Grade students will not have the opportunity to personally experience the microscopic world. I want them to become full of wonder and curiosity about the natural world around them. Please help!
