This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have an innate ability to create music. The only thing standing in their way is the lack of available technology.
My students are in a title 1 school in an urban district.
They are amazing kids. They work hard with whatever task they are given. Select members from my 60+ members strong band are taking my class, Recording Arts. This class takes music students into the 21st century by having them sequencing and composing their own music.
My Project
Students will have the ability to receive a meaningful education with the appropriate materials. It is the equivalent of having students come to Math, English, or Science with a pencil, paper, books, and calculators. They will be able to use sequencing programs and play and perform on keyboards connected to PC's. Using USB Midi Controllers, they will be able to compose and edit music in real-time. This is a norm in the professional recording industry and my students will get to learn and experience for themselves.
These necessary items in order for my classroom to succeed.
In other more districts, this may not be as nearly big deal, but in a school with no music budget, these items are critical. Thank you for your consideration in donating!
