I teach in a self-contained setting, where I am responsible for teaching all subjects.
Today's teens are exhibiting greater rates of obesity and a lack of exercise. Most of our students do not have access to materials to get them into shape, and do not live in areas where they can freely play outside.
I would like to start a club in our school entitled "Get Fit!", that would provide lessons on nutrition, health and exercise. We would meet and learn how to properly prepare meals and pick out healthy options. We would also do various forms of exercise, such as cardio and strength training. This project would require multiple materials to provide information on nutrition and exercise.
Most of our students have troubles beyond the classroom. For those who are overweight, it is just one more thing they have to struggle with daily. Your help can not only improve their physical well being, but their self-esteem as well. My students need supplies for health in multiple learning styles, including 3 posters, 1 game of bingo, 3 exercise and health videos, and 2 different student and teacher workbooks. details» |
