Mrs. Davis from Boynton Beach FL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
See what Mrs. Davis is requestingOur students need a digital camcorder with recordable DVD's. Five Reader's Theater script books have been requested to provide a selection of plays on various reading levels for our students.

Readers Theater is an activity that is used regularly in our Second Grade classrooms. It gives students an opportunity to practice their reading skills in a theater setting. Many of our students' parents work multiple jobs. Some of them don't have transportation to take them from their workplace to the school to view our classroom performances. I notice that some of my students are not motivated to participate in Readers Theater because they know their parents will not be able to attend. It is heartbreaking when a student says, "My mom is always working and she can't come." This is a reality for many of our students. Their parents work very long hours and can't attend performances. This project brings Readers Theater and other projects to students' homes. If our Second Grade team had a digital video camera, we could record our performances and send them home on DVD. Parents would not feel pressured to take time off from work. They will be able to keep their child's second grade memories with them for a lifetime. Students would be motivated to practice their lines at home, knowing there performance would be made into a movie! I work well with technology and would be able to edit the disc, add an opening title, music, and credits. This project opens the doors to endless possibilities. I would have an opportunity to record Native American Reports, Awards Ceremonies, Karaoke performances, Vertebrate projects, digital yearbooks, and much more. I would love to have the opportunity to send you one of their Academy Award winning performances!
