My project needs baseball equipment such as bats, balls and gloves for after school club.

If I build it, they will come. That’s how I feel about bringing baseball to in Bridgeport, Connecticut. My one dream is to give my students their own “Field of Dreams.” I am a fifth grade teacher in my third year and I love baseball. I think it is the most sacred game in America. It has been said that in 1,000 years from now, the United States will be best known for our Constitution, jazz, and our national past time, the wonderful game of baseball. I want to teach my students all about the game that I cherish so much. Many of my boys and girls love the game as much as I do. Oftentimes, we have in depth discussions about certain teams and players. In addition, the students bring up intriguing questions regarding the history of baseball. Therefore, I have decided to volunteer my time after school to begin a small baseball program, but it is going to be a special program. My focus for the program will consist mainly on teaching the fundamentals of baseball, but I will incorporate history and math. I want my students to learn from great role models such as Lou Gehrig, Jackie Robinson, and Roberto Clemente. Our baseball field of dreams (a concrete play area) will become an extension of the classroom. I must begin this program now because my boys and girls need it. Too often, they go home after school and waste hours watching bad television shows, or they chat mindlessly online. Baseball can change all of that, but I need your help. I can’t afford to buy all the equipment I need to get this project off the ground. You can help make this dream a realty for my students.
