The Finance Lab: Reimagining Learning Stations for Teen Success!

Help me give my students in the Economics & Personal Finance Class 4-piece counter height table with 3 stools for peer group collaborative work stations. Reimagine learning stations designated for young minds to critically think through economic issues.

My Project

Welcome to our Economics and Personal Finance classroom! I am privileged to teach at a Title 1 (high-need) early college that inspires, ambitious, and resilient group of high schoolers. Every single day, these students walk through my door eager to learn how to master their money, understand global markets, and build financial freedom. They know that the skills we learn here—budgeting, investing, avoiding debt, and managing risk—will directly impact their adult lives. We prepare them for college and career readiness before they go to a four-year college. It is important that students understand finances from a personal perspective in managing money, balancing checkbooks, applying to grants, scholarships, and colleges, understanding and filing taxes, apply for mortgages, auto/loans, and more. Because financial literacy is an intimidating course, when taught strictly from a textbook, I structure my classroom around hands-on, collaborative learning stations. Every day, you will find students rotating between a "Stock Market Simulation Hub," an "Investment Pitch Board," and a "Budgeting Case Study Station." They learn best when they can move, debate, and work together in small teams. To truly reimagine our learning stations, we need agile furniture that matches our high-energy curriculum. I am requesting active learning tables with seating (stools) as station-friendly tools to turn our room into a true "Finance Lab." Mobile, active seating will allow teams to pivot seemlessly between stations, gather around collaboration boards, and transition smoothly without losing instructional time. You are giving my hardworking Title I students a lab workspace-style environment that mirrors the modern professional world where their imagination can explore endless possibilities and fit the teenage vibe for optimal learning. Your support will turn abstract financial concepts into an active, engaging adventure, ensuring these teens graduate with the sharp financial instincts they need to thrive.
