My Project

Hello,

I have requested what some may consider simple items, but to me and my students, they are major items of necessity.

I am a 22nd year health resource specialist who specializes in reproductive health & safety for my school's district. I am one of 7 and we serve all the public middle schools in our county. I serve 4 schools and all of them are Title I, which means more than half the students come from low-income families. My goal for this project is simple: to have these items readily available when students are in need. My students are special because 95% of them truly want to be here and learn, but they face some financial disadvantages.

I have requested items such as cleaning wipes, room deodorizers, sanitizing sprays, deodorant, toothpaste/toothbrushes. Unfortunately, not all of the students I teach are taught how to clean and sanitize properly and it is evident in the classroom, by the lingering stains and odors. These items will be used to clean desks, chairs, door handles and even on occasion shoes, backpacks and coats.

I have also requested some storage containers of various sizes for the classroom. I don't know about you, but I was always taught that when you look good you tend to feel good and when your space is neat and clean you tend to take pride in that. Well pride, that's just what I want my students to have. I want them to feel as if they can face any obstacle that comes at them in this classroom.
