Djembe the Day Away!

Help me give my students a classroom set of Djembe Drums to enable us to have more interactive rhythmic experiences!

My Project

Learning and Practicing Rhythm Patterns is something that each elementary grade level must do in the state of NC. Although we currently can use our hands, Rhythm Noodles (Pool Noodles cut into short pieces) and various other auxillary instruments to achieve these goals, it's always more fun when you can hit a drum!

With this classroom set of Djembe Drums, my students will be given access to a hands-on learning experience that will motivate them to participate (because who doesn't love to hit a drum), learn and cement their musical elements of rhythm and rhythmic patterns, and most importantly will be able to have fun while doing it!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
