Help me give my students a comfortable, flexible space where they can meet, work, reflect, and connect with their school counselor.

My Project

As a middle school counselor, I meet with students individually, in small groups, and for academic and social-emotional support throughout the school year. My counseling office is a small space, so creating a functional student workspace requires furniture that is both flexible and space-conscious.

This project will provide a pub-height table with two stools that tuck completely underneath and a folding table.

These pieces are ideal for my office because they provide students with designated workspace without overwhelming the limited space available. The stools can be tucked away when the area is needed for individual counseling or small-group activities, while the folding table can be opened when students need additional workspace and stored when it is not in use.

Students will use these spaces for completing assignments, organizing materials, goal-setting activities, college and career exploration, social-emotional learning activities, small-group counseling, and one-on-one meetings. Having a welcoming and functional workspace can help students feel comfortable while encouraging them to take ownership of their learning, planning, and personal growth.

Although my counseling office is small, I want every part of the space to communicate to students that there is a place for them here. These flexible furniture pieces will allow me to make the most of my limited space while providing students with a comfortable place to learn, work, and be supported.
