My Project

I teach a wide variety of STEM and science courses, including computer science, robotics, engineering, physical science, and physics. My students are middle school and high school students and may be coding independently one class, collaborating on a robotics and engineering challenge the next, and conducting a hands-on physics or chemistry lab the next. Our current tables are sturdy, but they are large, heavy, and difficult to rearrange when our learning activities change.

Our students don't learn in one fixed way, so their classroom shouldn't have to work in just one configuration.

I am requesting flip top classroom tables that can be easily moved, rearranged, and stored when we need additional floor space. These tables would allow students to quickly transition between the various activities by being able to quickly move and rearrange the layout of the room. When we need an open workspace for robotics, engineering challenges, or other large projects, the tables can simply be folded and moved out of the way.

Most importantly, these tables will help me create a classroom where the learning environment can adapt to the activity rather than the activity having to adapt to the furniture. Students will have a flexible space where they can collaborate, build, experiment, solve problems, and create. With your support, my students will have a classroom designed not just for sitting at a desk, but for actually doing STEM.
