My Project

My students are an incredible group of K–5 Exceptional Children who need learning opportunities designed around the way they experience and interact with the world. All of my students are non-speaking and have significant support needs related to autism. Our classroom is also working on essential daily living and independence skills, including toileting, communication, transitions, and self-regulation. With limited staffing and financial resources, providing individualized instruction while keeping every student actively engaged can be challenging.

This DonorsChoose project would provide hands-on STEAM materials that transform learning into something students can touch, build, explore, and experience.

Coding robots, building materials, sensory-friendly resources, and science tools will allow students to practice communication, fine-motor skills, problem-solving, cause and effect, and collaboration while remaining actively involved in learning.

For my students, engagement is more than simply maintaining attention—it creates opportunities for communication, independence, confidence, and meaningful academic growth. These reusable resources will help us provide learning experiences that meet students at their individual levels while allowing them to experience success.

Your support will help create a classroom where disability does not limit access to discovery. Every contribution gives my students another opportunity to communicate, create, explore, and show what they can do.
