My Project

Showing up matters—but elementary students don't always understand just how important regular attendance is. We want to make attendance something our students can see, celebrate, and get excited about.

With this project, each of our 35 classrooms will receive its own Potato Head to use as a classroom attendance tracker.

The goal is simple: when everyone in the class is at school, the class earns a piece to add to its Potato Head!

One perfect-attendance day might earn a pair of eyes. The next could add an arm, a hat, or those famous Potato Head ears. Piece by piece, students will watch their Potato Head come to life as their class works together toward better attendance.

This gives our youngest learners a concrete, visual way to understand something that can otherwise feel pretty abstract. Instead of simply hearing that attendance is important, they get to see their progress right in their classroom. It also creates a little friendly competition throughout the school as students check to see which classrooms are getting closer to completing their Potato Heads.

Most importantly, we want students to be excited about being at school. Every day they are here is another day to learn, grow, connect with their teachers and friends, and be part of their classroom community.

With 35 Potato Heads, every classroom can join the challenge.
