Help me give my students fidgets, calming toys, headphones, snacks, tissues, and wipes. These simple tools provide comfort, sensory support, emotional regulation, and a clean, welcoming space for learning.

My Project

Our students are bright, creative, resilient, and full of potential. Like all children, they experience a wide range of emotions throughout the school day, and learning how to manage those emotions is an important part of growing and becoming successful. Social-emotional learning is especially valuable during the elementary years because students are developing the skills they will use throughout their lives to communicate, solve problems, manage stress, build relationships, and make positive decisions. This project will provide fidgets, calming toys, noise-canceling headphones, snacks, tissues, and disinfecting wipes to give students practical resources they can use to stay focused, regulated, and engaged in their learning.

My goal is to give students the tools and confidence to take ownership of their emotions and their learning.

Fidgets and calming toys can provide a productive way for students to refocus, while noise-canceling headphones can help minimize distractions when students need a quieter environment. Surprisingly, snacks can also be an effective way to help students reset; sometimes having a quick snack provides the comfort and energy needed to refocus and get back on track. Tissues are an everyday necessity when working with children and their many emotions, while disinfecting wipes will help us maintain a clean and welcoming space for students to use these resources.

Ultimately, this project is about equipping students, not defining them by their challenges. I want students to recognize that having big emotions is a normal part of growing, and that they can learn strategies to manage those emotions while continuing to move forward. These resources will help create an environment where students can build independence, confidence, self-awareness, and resilience—skills that will support them not only in the classroom, but throughout their lives.
