My Project

Every student deserves a classroom where they feel comfortable, valued, and ready to learn. I am requesting flexible seating options for my 19 fifth-grade students to transform our classroom into an engaging, student-centered learning environment where students can choose seating that supports their individual learning needs.

My students are active, curious, and enthusiastic learners who benefit from opportunities to move, collaborate, read, reflect, and work in different settings.

Traditional desks do not always provide the flexibility students need throughout a full school day. Flexible seating will give my students appropriate choices while encouraging them to develop responsibility, independence, self-awareness, and ownership of their learning environment.

The requested materials—including Flex-Space washable floor seats, balance ball seats, classroom stools, a cozy reading/calm-down canopy, and a premium teardrop beanbag—will create multiple comfortable learning spaces throughout the classroom. Students will be able to select appropriate seating for independent reading, small-group instruction, partner work, intervention, writing, and quiet reflection.

The Cozy Corner Canopy and beanbag seat will provide a welcoming space where students can read independently, take a brief learning break, or use the space for quiet reflection when they need to reset and refocus. The balance ball seats and stools will provide opportunities for appropriate movement while students complete academic tasks, while the floor seats will create additional flexible spaces for reading and collaborative learning.

The desktop reference nameplates will also provide students with helpful academic references at their fingertips while personalizing their learning spaces and supporting organization and independence.
