Help me give my students a piano lab! These instruments will allow me to teach piano to my students while giving them exposure to a classical instrument!

My Project

Every child deserves the opportunity to discover their musical voice, regardless of their zip code or family’s financial circumstances. As a teacher at a Title I school, I see every day how important it is to provide my students with meaningful opportunities to explore, create, and build confidence.

I would love to create a piano lab where students can learn, practice, and experience the joy of making music together.

With classroom keyboards and the right resources, students will have the opportunity to develop foundational piano skills, learn about rhythm and melody, read music, and create their own music.

For many of my students, this could be their first opportunity to learn to play an instrument. A piano lab would allow me to give students hands-on musical experiences that might otherwise be out of reach. Instead of simply learning about music, students will be able to sit at a keyboard, press the keys, experiment with sounds, and experience the accomplishment of playing a song themselves.

Music education provides so much more than musical skills. Students practice focus, perseverance, creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and self-expression. Learning an instrument can also give students a positive outlet where they can take risks, make mistakes, try again, and celebrate their progress.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
