Accessibility Starts With Seeing the Books

Help me give my students clear book bins so our media center shelves are easier to browse, more accessible, and less overwhelming for students with disabilities.

My Project

Our media center should be a place where every student can find books with confidence. For many students, especially students with disabilities, searching through crowded shelves can feel overwhelming. Rows of books packed tightly together can make it difficult to see covers, understand choices, and independently find something interesting to read.

The Tiawudi clear plastic storage bins will help make our media center more accessible by allowing students to see the books inside each bin before pulling them out.

Instead of facing an entire shelf of books at once, students will be able to browse smaller, clearly organized groups of books in a way that feels calmer and more manageable.

These bins will help us organize books by series, topic, genre, reading interest, or classroom need. Students will be able to see covers more easily, make choices more independently, and return books to the correct place with less frustration. This is especially helpful for students with autism, developmental delays, attention difficulties, visual processing challenges, and physical disabilities who benefit from clear organization and reduced barriers.

This project is about more than storage. It is about helping every student feel successful in the media center. When books are visible, organized, and easy to reach, students can spend less time feeling overwhelmed and more time discovering stories they love.
