Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Middle school is a time of immense physical, emotional, and social transition. For the Title 1 students in our Health and Physical Education classes, navigating these changes requires a safe, supportive environment where their basic and educational needs are met. This project, "Wellness, Dignity, and Hands-On Learning," is designed to bridge resource gaps by providing essential personal care items and immediate in-class printing capabilities that foster confidence, health equity, and active engagement.

Why These Resources Matter

1. Personal Care Items: Restoring Dignity and Confidence

During physical education and daily health lessons, students frequently face moments where a lack of basic hygiene products creates anxiety, distraction, or reluctance to fully participate. By providing readily accessible personal care items (such as deodorant, hygiene products, and fresh essentials), we remove hidden barriers to learning. When students feel clean, fresh, and comfortable in their bodies, they can focus fully on movement, teamwork, and academic growth without the weight of self-consciousness.

2. The Classroom Printer: Fueling Visual and Kinesthetic Learning Health and PE go far beyond the gymnasium; they encompass mental health, nutrition, anatomy, and lifelong wellness strategies. Having a dedicated wireless printer right in the classroom allows for immediate, dynamic instruction.
