My Project

In my sixth-grade math classroom, we believe every student counts, and every birthday should count, too!

Sixth grade is a significant transition for students.

They are adjusting to new academic expectations, becoming more independent, building relationships, and discovering who they are. As a sixth-grade math teacher, I want my classroom to be a place where students develop not only mathematical skills, but also confidence, perseverance, and a sense of belonging.

I am requesting materials to create Happy Birthday Bags for my 100 sixth-grade math students so that every child can be intentionally recognized and celebrated. Each bag will include age-appropriate school supplies, writing utensils, stressrelief items, positive messages, and individually packaged treats, creating a small collection of items students can enjoy and use.

The purpose of this project goes beyond the items in each bag. I want every student to experience the feeling of being remembered and celebrated as an important member of our classroom community. These birthday bags will provide a consistent way for me to recognize students throughout the school year and create meaningful moments of connection.

Our superhero-themed classroom is built on the belief that every mathematician has a superpower. A student's superpower may be perseverance, creativity, curiosity, leadership, kindness, or problem-solving. A birthday gives me an opportunity to recognize those strengths and remind students that who they are matters, not just what they can do academically.

By donating to this project, you will help me create a classroom culture where my sixth-grade mathematicians know that they matter and belong. Your support will help make each student's birthday a meaningful reminder that they have something valuable to contribute.
