Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a fifth-grade English Language Arts teacher, I am excited to welcome a new group of students into a classroom designed to help them feel prepared, supported, and ready to learn. Although I have not yet met this year’s class, I know every student benefits from an organized, inviting environment that fosters success. I enjoy seeing students grow in confidence as independent learners, collaborate with peers, and develop a love for reading and writing.

My goal is to create a clean, organized classroom that maximizes learning time and reduces distractions.

When students can easily access and return materials, we spend more time engaged in meaningful instruction, reading, writing, discussion, and collaboration.

To support this, I selected supply caddies for our groups of five so students have shared materials within reach. This promotes teamwork, responsibility, and independence. I also chose 3-drawer storage organizers to give students a clear system for storing folders, workbooks, and notebooks. Placed at the end of each group section, these organizers will help students quickly retrieve and return materials, improving transitions and preserving instructional time.

In addition, classroom baskets will help homeroom students safely transport Chromebooks, homework, and supplies as they move between classes, keeping them organized and prepared throughout the day.

Together, these organizational tools will ensure every item has a place and every student has what they need to succeed. As fifth graders prepare for middle school, strong organizational habits are essential. This project will help create a calm, structured classroom where students can focus on building their reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication skills.
