This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our Pre-K special education classroom is filled with 14 amazing young learners with autism, speech and language delays, developmental delays, and other diverse learning needs. Every day, our students are developing communication, social-emotional, sensory, and fine motor skills through hands-on experiences that make learning engaging and meaningful.

A train table and train set would become a daily learning center where students can explore, create, and collaborate.

As they build tracks, move trains, and interact with classmates, they will strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving abilities, and imaginative thinking. The structured play environment also encourages turn-taking, sharing, requesting, and using language in authentic social situations—important skills for many of our students who are working on communication goals.

Many of our students benefit from sensory-rich, repetitive, and predictable play experiences. A train table provides a calming and organized activity that supports self-regulation while encouraging cooperative play. It also creates opportunities for teachers and therapists to reinforce vocabulary, following directions, counting, colors, and early STEM concepts during everyday play.

Your generosity will provide our classroom with a durable train table and train set that will be used by all 14 students throughout the school year. This resource will help transform play into meaningful learning, giving our students the opportunity to build confidence, independence, and essential developmental skills while having fun.
