My Project

This is my ninth year teaching, and I am thrilled to be teaching such sweet, enthusiastic, and hard working students this year. Our second grade students come from a variety of different backgrounds. Our community is very diverse, and we have a high population of low income students. Our school is Title I with a free and reduced-price lunch population of over 94%. My students have a positive mindset and are determined to succeed, but many don't have access to all the resources they need at home. I want to give my students the best support possible to help them reach their goals this year and be as happy and successful as I know they can be. My students have a passion for learning and strive to be the best students they can be. Each day, we have snack time to keep our brains fueled and help us stay focused while learning. Many of our kids often can't afford to buy snacks or bring in food from home. Throughout the day, they often get hungry which impacts their ability to focus. We all know how hard it is to focus and learn when we are hungry. We also all know how expensive snacks can be for families, especially during these financially difficult times.

By providing students with healthy snacks in the classroom and snacks to take home, we can increase higher academic performance and focus in the classroom, while also encouraging healthy nutrition.

I want every child in second grade to have the opportunity to have snacks daily, especially when they can't bring their own from home. Healthy snacks can help us to stay energized, engaged, and focused, which will help us to be able to concentrate and be the best students we can be!
