Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

To reignite their passion for reading this school year, I want to transform a corner of our room into the library of their dreams, a cozy, warm, and welcoming reading sanctuary. To build this space, we are requesting items that shift the atmosphere away from a traditional, sterile classroom and turn it into a magical literary retreat.

With a comfortable atmosphere, my students will have a designated physical space to unplug, unwind, and experience the pure joy of reading for pleasure.

Our floors are tile and I am hoping to create that comfortable space by adding eclectic rugs, pillows and chairs. I want them to feel as if they are in their own cozy little nook, where they are able to forget the day, relax and enjoy reading.

When kids have a space that feels safe, comfortable, and special, reading stops feeling like a chore and starts becoming an adventure.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
