Finding Our Focus: Sensory & Calm-Down Bottles for Speech Therapy

Help me give my students sensory and calm‑down bottles to help speech therapy students regulate their emotions, increase focus, and fully engage in communication activities.

My Project

In my speech therapy classroom, students work incredibly hard to find their voice—whether they are practicing articulation, strengthening language skills, or learning how to communicate and regulate their emotions.

Many of my students benefit from sensory supports that help them stay calm, focused, and ready to learn.

I am requesting materials to create sensory bottles and calm-down bottles that will provide soothing visual input and promote regulation during our sessions.

My speech students are bright, creative, and determined learners who come from a wide range of backgrounds and ability levels. Many experience challenges with attention, anxiety, emotional regulation, or sensory processing. When these needs are supported, they are better able to engage in communication tasks, participate in therapy activities, and feel confident in their abilities.

I am seeking materials such as: clear sensory bottles or durable plastic containers, glitter glue, beads, water beads, and colorful fillers, liquid motion materials (oil, glycerin, etc.)

Sensory bottles offer:

Visual calming effects that help reduce frustration and anxiety

A self-regulation tool students can use before or during speech tasks

A hands-on way to practice following directions, sequencing, and describing

A classroom management support that helps reset attention and increase engagement

When students are regulated, they can better communicate, make progress toward speech goals, and feel proud of their achievements.
