My Project

Who doesn’t enjoy a calming classroom environment? My students love that my classroom provides a space for them to relax and still have the ability to learn and thrive!

My exceptional students come to me with specific needs.

I plan to provide a calming, loving, and inviting atmosphere to each student that enters those doors. We all become overwhelmed at times, but children don’t always know how to express those feelings and emotions appropriately. This is where I come in! I teach students strategies to regulate their emotions. It’s okay to take breaks and prepare yourself to return to learning. Creating this calming zone will ensure that my students are equipped with the appropriate materials to be emotionally regulated. The lounge mat/seat and rug both provide a comfortable place to sit for relaxation. To focus on emotional regulation and understand those current feelings, the listed books and manipulatives will aid in students being successful with the process and provide a clearer understanding of what’s happening with them. This space will also include a timer for students to be aware of when it’s time to return to learning.
