My Project

Every week, my 1st-5th grade high-potential and Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) students gather in my classroom to explore, create, collaborate, and tackle challenges that push their thinking beyond the traditional curriculum. Our lessons are filled with hands-on projects, engineering challenges, literature discussions, coding, and problem-solving activities that often look very different from a typical classroom. Because of this, traditional desks aren't always the best fit for the way my students learn.

Flexible seating will allow students to choose a space where they feel comfortable, focused, and ready to think deeply.

Some students do their best work while sitting on the floor with a lap desk, others prefer a wobble stool that allows gentle movement, and many benefit from having the freedom to change positions as they work through complex tasks. Giving students this choice helps increase engagement, encourages collaboration, supports self-regulation, and builds independence as they learn to recognize the environment that helps them succeed.

My classroom is a place where curiosity is celebrated and mistakes are part of the learning process. By creating a flexible learning environment, you'll be helping students feel comfortable taking academic risks, sharing creative ideas, and persevering through challenging work.
