From Classroom to Home: Growing Readers With Esperanza Rising

Help me give my students a class set of Esperanza Rising books that they can take home, read with their families, and keep as a meaningful part of their literacy journey.

My Project

My students are curious, thoughtful, and eager to grow as readers. They love sharing their ideas, making connections, and discovering themselves through the characters and stories they read. I want to nurture that excitement by giving them access to a class set of Esperanza Rising that they can take home and read beyond the classroom.

Having their own copy of Esperanza Rising will allow students to read at their own pace, revisit important passages, annotate meaningful moments, and discuss the text with their classmates and families.

The novel will strengthen their reading comprehension, vocabulary, character analysis, and ability to identify themes such as resilience, hope, family, identity, and perseverance. Most importantly, taking the book home extends learning beyond the school day and gives students the opportunity to develop a lasting relationship with a powerful story.

My goal is for every student to see themselves as a capable, confident reader who can tackle challenging texts and think deeply about what they read. With your support, these books will become more than classroom materials—they will become opportunities for students to read, reflect, connect, and grow both inside and outside of school.
