My Project

My students are striving readers in grades 5 through 8 who bring curiosity, resilience, and personality into every session. They do not need less, they need more: more time, more scaffolding, more consistency, and more adults who believe in them. Zizi's Place was created to be that space, a calm, nature-inspired literacy intervention room where every student is known by name and every detail of the environment is designed with their needs in mind.

Every supply in this project has a student's name on it.

Individual folders, pouches, and pencil caddies give each reader a sense of ownership and daily routine, while School-To-Home folders keep families informed and connected to their student's learning goals. When a child knows exactly where their materials are and what to expect each session, they spend less energy managing anxiety and more energy engaging with text.

Flexible floor pillows and sensory tools round out the environment by honoring the neurodivergent needs many of my students bring with them. Calm strips, fidget tools, and cozy seating options allow students to regulate their bodies so their minds can focus. A reader who feels safe, settled, and prepared is a reader who is ready to grow.
