Helping Young Engineering Students Measure Up

Help me give my students the ability to take accurate measurements while designing, constructing, and testing engineering projects throughout the year. This class set of durable rulers will provide years of use in our growing engineering program.

My Project

A key part of engineering projects involves designing, constructing, and testing the engineer's concepts. A very important tool in this process is a device that will allow students to take accurate length measurements. I have found that often, 12 inch rulers are too short while full meter sticks are too cumbersome in tight situations. A 24 inch (60mm) steel rulers would fill that "sweet spot" in between. For this DonersChoose project, am seeking funding to purchase a class set of (26) 24 inch (60mm) steel rulers to enable students to take accurate measurements. In addition, they would have both inch and metric scales to provide measurement in either popular units. These rulers would be used throughout the class and are durable enough to last several years in an active STEM classroom environment.
