Help me give my students the opportunity for visual learning by having a laptop for displaying slideshow presentations, science models, interactive maps and activities, as well as clear, visual daily instructions.

My Project

My colleagues and myself had had the privilege of having two laptops in our classrooms. One was used for meetings, planning, grading, etc., and the other was set up with our smartboards, where students also used it for various tasks. Some teachers had their own personal laptops that they used, so it did not affect them when our tech department required us to turn in the older laptops at the end of the year, permanently. This will greatly affect my classroom in a negative manner.

Having a new laptop to use with my smartboard will allow me to continue to teach with creative lessons that allow for interactive manipulations and simulations for my students.

They also rely on my daily agenda being displayed each morning as they enter the room as part of their routine. I am required to use the SmartPass hall pass system, and students need to access it from this computer as well.

Not having a second laptop will definitely slow the teaching momentum in my science and social studies classes. We are a technology-driven school, with nearly all textbooks online, as well as most assessments. I will be required to use the only laptop I now have, which will take more time out of teaching when I have to hook everything up each time I need to display something.
