My Project

Students crave structure. They rely on systems, procedures, and clarity to feel safe enough to try hard things, like learning how to write effective body paragraphs, practicing drawing critical inferences, and using their voice to engage in rich discussions.

Middle school students at McClintock are passionate and hardworking!

But, like all students, they benefit from thoughtful supports in order to overcome all of the challenges facing young people today: whether it's language barriers, learning disabilities, or simply the overwhelming pressure that comes with being a young adult in today's world, being an 8th grader is far from easy!

As an educator, it is my job to counter this reality by creating a space that minimizes all of the hurdles our kids face. I want stackable stools, headphones, and basic organization tools to provide students the chance to engage in frequent meaningful discussion circles, access to auditory scaffolds to support their reading comprehension and personalized learning, and organizational tools to track their progress and coursework.

With these resources, students will be empowered to engage in class with bravery and resilience because our space will be safe and supportive.
