My Project

My students are amazing all day every day.

This project will provide fiction and nonfiction texts that engage students and provide "non-digital" engagement with those texts.

Students are savvy and have become adept at finding answers online versus finding answers in their reading of texts. My goal with this project is to provide texts both fiction and non-fiction that engage students in interesting relevant topics while providing pre-made instructional materials that focus on specific goals and standards. These texts and materials will help me expedite and facilitate a small group rotation where students work with the teacher, independently and collaboratively without the constant aid of a device.

One major goal of mine these last 3 years has been to limit dependency on devices and help students develop critical reading and thinking skills. We use computers when necessary to the task and project but not as a substitute for books, texts and physically writing with paper and pencil. This project will help me manage this in an efficient and engaging manner.
