My Project

Every student deserves access to books that inspire, challenge, and help them grow as readers. As a seventh-grade English Language Arts teacher at a low-income school, I am building a classroom library that supports students with a wide range of reading abilities and interests.

Many of my students are reading below seventh-grade level, making it difficult for them to engage with grade-level texts without additional support.

By providing a collection of high-interest books at a variety of reading levels, I can help students build confidence, strengthen essential literacy skills, and develop a genuine love of reading. My goal is for every student to find books they can read successfully while continuing to grow toward grade-level proficiency.

The books requested through this project will be used for independent reading, small-group instruction, literature circles, and classroom book talks. A diverse classroom library will allow students to choose books that reflect their interests, cultures, and experiences while giving them opportunities to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and critical thinking.

For many of my students, the books in our classroom may be the only books they have regular access to outside of our school library. Your generosity will help create an inclusive library where every student—regardless of their current reading level—can experience the joy of reading, build confidence, and discover that they are capable of success.
