Chess Club for Gifted Students

Help me give my students a chess club.this cart includes 10 chess clocks. chess boards with pieces that can be carried from classroom to classroom. As well as 10 notation pads to teach them to record there games.

My Project

am starting a competitive chess club at Durham Early College of Health Sciences to provide students with an opportunity to develop critical thinking, confidence, and leadership through chess. The materials in this project—including 10 chess sets, clocks, demonstration boards, and instructional resources—will allow multiple students to practice at the same time while learning tournament rules, strategy, sportsmanship, and problem-solving skills.

My goal is to build a competitive team that will represent our school at the North Carolina Scholastic Chess Championships and other local tournaments.

Many of my students are highly motivated, academically driven, and eager to take on new challenges, but they have never had access to an organized chess program. Chess teaches patience, concentration, resilience, planning, and decision-making—skills that transfer directly to the classroom and to future careers in healthcare, science, and leadership.

By supporting this project, you will help create opportunities that extend far beyond the chessboard. Students will gain confidence, build friendships, learn to compete with integrity, and discover a lifelong activity that strengthens both their minds and their character. Your generosity will help establish a lasting chess program that our school community can be proud of.
