My Project

My classroom for the coming year will consist of students in Kindergarten -5th grade who have Autism. Many of my students experience difficulties processing sensory input. What does this mean? It means that things in an everyday classroom that you and I would not even think about, often overstimulate and overwhelmed my students. These things can include lighting, sound, smells, textures, and many other kinds of input.

It can be very helpful for students with Autism to be able to use sensory fidgets, weighted items, or quiet spaces to calm their bodies.

Students with intense sensory needs require calm bodies so that they can focus their minds on education. Calm bodies promote learning mines!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
