My Project

My second-grade students work hard every day, and recess is an important part of their school day. It gives them a chance to recharge, practice social skills, and return to the classroom ready to learn. Unfortunately, rainy weather, extreme temperatures, and poor air quality sometimes keep us indoors. During those days, I want my students to have meaningful activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving instead of simply waiting for recess to end.

This project will provide engaging indoor recess options that students can enjoy together while building important life skills.

Board games and card games will encourage cooperation, communication, and strategic thinking. Building toys and STEM activities will spark creativity, strengthen problem-solving skills, and inspire teamwork. Puzzles will challenge students' critical thinking while teaching perseverance. Coloring supplies, drawing materials, and craft activities will allow students to express themselves creatively and relax after focused academic work.

These resources will also help students develop kindness, patience, and respect as they learn to share materials, take turns, and work together. Indoor recess can be just as valuable as outdoor play when students have engaging opportunities to connect with classmates in positive ways.
