Where Little Learners Bloom

Help me give my students everything they need for a successful year of learning. My first grade students need hands-on-learning materials and classroom organization supplies to create an engaging and welcoming learning environment.

My Project

As a first-year first-grade teacher, I am excited to create a classroom where every child feels welcomed, safe, and excited to learn. My students will be beginning an important year of learning to read, write, solve problems, and work together. First graders are naturally curious, creative, and eager to explore, and they learn best in an organized, engaging, and hands-on environment.

I am requesting a classroom rug where we can gather for morning meetings, read-alouds, and small-group lessons.

I am also requesting dry-erase boards so every student can actively participate in phonics, math, and writing activities throughout the day.

To help keep our classroom organized and running smoothly, I am requesting paper trays, classroom caddies, paper storage, file organizers, and activity trays. These materials will allow students to independently access supplies, turn in their work, and keep our classroom neat while building responsibility and organization skills.

I am also requesting a laminator so I can create durable learning materials, classroom games, visual supports, and centers that can be used again and again throughout the school year. A comfortable teacher chair will provide a supportive place for me to work with students during small-group instruction, conferences, and individual learning time.

Finally, I have selected several picture books that teach kindness, empathy, self-control, and emotional awareness while also encouraging a love of reading. Books like The Day the Crayons Quit, The Crayons Go Back to School, Fill a Bucket, Kindness Is My Superpower, I Have Ants in My Pants, The Pigeon Has Feelings, Too!, and There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books! will help build classroom community while supporting important social-emotional learning.

These resources will help transform an empty classroom into a welcoming, organized, and engaging learning environment where every child has the tools they need to succeed. Thank you!
