Help me give my students comforting resources to help them self-regulate in our classroom Calm Down Corner when needed.

My Project

All students can use a Calm Down Corner to help them process and manage their emotions. Students come to school with many different issues and circumstances that can make it challenging to follow along and learn. Sometimes students just need a little 5-minute break to reset. A Calm Down Corner provides a safe space for any student to take a break to process and self-regulate emotions. Our school counselor teaches students basic calming, breathing, and stress-relieving strategies and encourages every teacher to have a designated classroom area for students to utilize a Calm Down Corner. Last year, with a little modeling at the beginning, the Calm Down Corner was very helpful to my students, but funds and resources for it were very limited.

This year, I would love to provide a comfortable space with more options of calming and sensory support materials to help my second graders navigate their emotions during the school day.
