Strike a Chord: Help Supply the NGMS Band

Help me give my students essential instrument supplies and accessories, such as valve oil, mouthpieces, and reeds so that they can play to their heart's content in band class!

My Project

The band program serves the students of NGMS, a year-round school in Garner, NC. There are approximately 100 students of a wide variety of socioeconomic statuses and abilities enrolled in the band program.

Our belief is that every child should have the opportunity to be in band, and I am passionate about teaching essential life skills such as accountability, problem-solving, and time management through music.

In order to make this happen, I am asking for your assistance in acquiring essential supplies for our band program. This includes instrument accessories and supplies (clarinet/saxophone mouthpieces, valve oil, reeds, replacing worn mallets, and other percussion accessories), binders and page protectors for holding music, pencils, and other miscellaneous supplies that keep our classroom safe, comfortable, and running smoothly. As I have many neurodivergent students, I also try to keep a supply of various fidgets for use as tools to help focus.

While we do have a newly-established band booster organization, we have not yet been able to conduct a large-scale fundraiser that would be able to cover the costs of these supplies. We won't be able to do so until the fall. I am turning to DonorsChoose as another avenue for obtaining some of these supplies. I try to provide what I am able to out of my own pocket, but your help in this undertaking would be endlessly appreciated.

Getting these supplies would mean that I am able to keep the band program at NGMS open to all students, regardless of financial situation or ability, which is monumentally important to me and to our community. Thank you for reading, and thank you for helping us have an amazing school year!
