My Project

Learning can get old, sitting on crusty, old carpet, and students need a break from their hard, plastic desk chairs. It helps to have little reading spots tucked away in the classroom to help students settle in and focus on their independent reading. A bean bag chair, cozy pillows, a bungee cord chair, a saucer chair, etc., are perfect solutions to help make this happen!

Second graders will look forward to reading even more when they have cozy seating options!

When my students focus on their reading, it helps them gain new knowledge, build vocabulary, increase reading fluency, and discover books and series they enjoy. Sustained reading helps them prepare for longer reading tests starting in third grade. Most importantly, focused reading helps second graders transition from learning to read to reading to learn, becoming lifelong learners who enjoy reading, which is my ultimate goal!
