Growing Readers, One Book at a Time

Help me give my students engaging nonfiction, diverse, and social-emotional books. The book bins are the most expensive item and will organize our classroom library, making books accessible for every young reader.

My Project

My kindergarten students are curious, energetic, and eager to learn. They ask thoughtful questions, enjoy discovering new ideas, and are beginning to develop a love of reading. As a first-year teacher, I am building my classroom library from the ground up and want to create a welcoming space where every child can see themselves, learn about others, and explore the world through books.

These resources will help my students become confident, lifelong readers.

Nonfiction books will build vocabulary, background knowledge, and curiosity. Books featuring diverse characters and cultures will help students appreciate differences while feeling represented and valued. Social-emotional books will teach important skills like kindness, empathy, problem-solving, and understanding emotions. The book bins will organize our classroom library, making books easy for students to independently find, return, and enjoy every day. My goal is to create a classroom where every child is excited to read, grow, and succeed.
