Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarten students are eager learners who come to school excited to read, write, explore, and discover new things. The majority of my students are English learners who benefit from hands-on learning experiences, visual supports, and opportunities to actively participate during lessons. Our classroom carpet is the heart of our learning environment, where students gather daily for literacy lessons, discussions, read-alouds, and community-building activities.

Our current classroom carpet is worn out, stained, and becoming a safety concern for students and teachers.

It frequently slides and bunches up, creating tripping hazards during our busy school day. Replacing it with a new carpet will provide a safer, cleaner, and more inviting learning space. The colorful Lakeshore carpet features individual squares that give each child a designated spot, helping students stay focused, learn personal space, and participate successfully during whole-group instruction. The color-coded rows also make it easy to organize students into groups and support smooth transitions throughout the day.

I am also requesting plastic pencil case boxes and hand pointers to support organization and literacy development. Personal pencil boxes will help students take responsibility for their materials and build independence during writing, math, and hands-on activities. The hand pointers will encourage students to track print while reading decodable words, sentences, and classroom posters. These engaging tools will strengthen one-to-one word tracking and build confidence in emerging readers.

These resources will help create a safe, organized, and engaging classroom where students can develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Thank you for supporting my young learners and helping them thrive.
