My Project

About Our Classroom

My classroom has 18, 4 and 5 year olds.

For most, this is their very first time stepping into a formal school environment. Many of our students come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and have lacked regular access to structured group play spaces. As they navigate the major transition from home to school, we strive to provide an inclusive, welcoming environment where every child feels secure, valued, and excited to learn.

Our Project

Right now, our outdoor recess equipment is over ten years old, making it incredibly worn and limited. For children entering school for the first time, recess is the primary classroom for crucial life skills. We are requesting new playground items—including versatile balls, cooperative group games, and active play materials—to replace our aged gear.

First-time students face the big challenge of learning how to navigate social spaces. Young children construct their understanding of the world and build language through hands-on exploration and social interaction. Play is the natural mechanism where this vital growth happens. By funding these materials, you provide the exact tools our pre-k scholars need to practice sharing, self-regulation, and conflict resolution through teamwork.

Your generosity will completely transform our daily recess into a vibrant, intentional learning environment. New, engaging equipment ensures all 36 students can actively participate, reducing behavior challenges and building community from day one.
