My Project

In my self-contained elementary classroom, movement is not a distraction from learning — it is often the key that unlocks it. Many of my students experience sensory processing challenges, difficulty with body regulation, anxiety, and high levels of movement needs throughout the school day. In order for students to successfully participate in academics, communication, and social learning, they first need support regulating their bodies.

These vibration plates will provide my students with structured sensory input that helps calm overstimulated nervous systems while also supporting students who seek movement and proprioceptive feedback.

Many students with autism and sensory differences benefit from vibration and movement because it increases body awareness, supports self-regulation, and helps improve attention and focus during learning activities.

The vibration plates will be incorporated into our classroom sensory regulation routines, movement breaks, calm-down strategies, and transition supports. Students will use them before small group instruction, after difficult transitions, during sensory breaks, and as part of individualized regulation plans. These tools will help students return to learning more focused, calm, and ready to participate.

In our classroom, we work every day to teach students how to recognize what their bodies need and how to independently use strategies to regulate emotions, attention, and behavior. These vibration plates will become an important part of that coaching process by giving students safe, structured sensory input that supports success across the entire school day.
