Help me give my students backpacks that will include a carefully selected book along with hands-on materials that allow students to complete a fun project after reading, creating take-home experiences.

My Project

I love the curiosity, creativity, and excitement my PreK through 2nd grade students bring to learning each day. They are eager to explore new stories, ask questions, and express themselves in unique ways. Many of my students thrive when learning is hands-on, interactive, and connected to their everyday experiences.

The Weekend Reading Backpack program is designed to extend that love of learning beyond the classroom.

Each backpack will include a high-quality children’s book along with simple, engaging materials for a related project. These resources—such as crayons, markers, glue sticks, scissors, and craft supplies—will allow students to create something meaningful after reading, helping them better understand the story while building fine motor skills and creativity.

By combining reading with hands-on activities, students will strengthen comprehension, develop a deeper connection to books, and build confidence in their abilities. These backpacks will also encourage family involvement, giving students the chance to share stories and learning experiences at home. With your support, my students will not only become stronger readers but also imaginative thinkers who look forward to learning every day.
