Planting Possibility: A Garden That Supports Every Learner

My Project

My students thrive when learning is hands-on, engaging, and responsive to their needs—but many of them struggle to remain seated, focused, and regulated in traditional settings. As a Speech Language Pathologist, I work with students who benefit deeply from movement, sensory input, and flexible learning environments.

Our school garden has become a powerful space for connection, communication, and growth.

I am requesting durable buckets that will serve a dual purpose: as portable seating to help students stay grounded and engaged, and as functional tools for gardening tasks. These simple supports will allow students the freedom to move while still participating meaningfully in structured activities.

Additionally, we are in need of fresh soil to replenish our garden beds. Our students have already planted and invested in this space, and maintaining healthy soil is essential for our plants—and their excitement—to continue to grow.

With these resources, students will not only help nurture a thriving garden, but also develop communication skills, self-regulation strategies, and a stronger sense of belonging. This project is about more than supplies—it’s about creating an environment where all learners can root themselves, grow confidently, and flourish.
