Eagle Voices Need to Soar

Help me give my students the love for theater and music. For two years, we have been putting on musical productions, but the sound has been slacking. We borrow what we can but want our own!

My Project

Our project aims to strengthen and sustain a growing musical theater program at our Title I elementary school by providing essential sound equipment for student performances. Over the past three years, our students have brought productions like The Princess and the Frog and The Lion King Jr. to life through dedication, teamwork, and a deep sense of pride. These performances have become a meaningful part of our school culture, allowing students to shine in ways that extend far beyond the classroom.

Despite limited funding, our program has thrived through creativity, passion, and personal contributions from staff.

However, one critical element continues to limit our students’ success—sound. Without proper microphones and speakers, students struggle to be heard clearly in the auditorium, which can impact both their confidence and the overall quality of the performance.

This project will provide basic sound equipment, including microphones and speakers, to ensure that every student’s voice can be heard. The impact of this extends far beyond the stage. Students involved in musical theater develop confidence, public speaking skills, collaboration, and perseverance. For many of our students, this is their first opportunity to perform in front of an audience, and being heard clearly validates their hard work and encourages them to take pride in their accomplishments.

In a Title I setting, access to the arts is especially important. This project helps ensure equity by giving all students—regardless of background—the opportunity to participate in a high-quality performing arts experience. When students can hear themselves and be heard by others, it transforms their performance into a powerful moment of self-expression and belonging.
