My Project

My kindergartners are a vibrant, curious group of "Herd" members who are just beginning their journey into the world of literacy. In our classroom, we prioritize building a strong sense of community and social-emotional growth. While my students are brimming with imagination, many are still developing the foundational decoding skills needed to read independently. They have a deep love for storytelling, and our library center is the heart of our daily exploration.

I am seeking funding for a Yoto Mini Read Aloud Kit to transform our library center into an accessible, immersive audio experience.

The Yoto Mini is a screen-free speaker that uses physical cards to play stories, making it perfectly intuitive for small hands to navigate without adult assistance.

This kit will include:

• A Yoto Mini Player: A durable, portable device for our listening station.

• Classic Story Cards: Familiar favorites like Llama Llama and The Pout-Pout Fish to build engagement and oral language skills.

• Make-Your-Own Blank Cards: This is the most exciting part! I plan to record our own in-class read-alouds onto these cards.

By providing these resources, my students will be able to "read" their favorite books independently, even before they can decode every word. Hearing stories modeled with expression helps build their fluency, comprehension, and stamina. Your support will ensure that every child in my classroom, regardless of their current reading level, can find joy and independence in our classroom library.
